Friday Five - A Week In Tech #4

1. PS2 Finally Throws In The Towel.

All you avid gamers out there will be upset with this news however the Playstation 2's last online servers have finally been shut down by Sony. On Thursday the 31st of March, Sony shut down the online services for the long-running MMO Final Fantasy XI.

Players of the titan MMO are being urged to pay their respects and transfer their characters in the game to PC following the shutdown without being forced to pay a price. Complete instructions can be found at the PlayOnline website.

Please enjoy this ten minute clip of the playstation sound being looped on repeat.

2. Tesla Model 3, Nice.

So this week founder of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, announced a new model of his electric powered car line. Musks vision is to have as many people driving electric cars as possible and with the Model 3 it seems as if he has taken one giant leap for musk-kind.

The Model 3 is reasonably affordable priced at around $35,000 and not only that but ooooh baby is it slick! Musk believes this is the car to take EV to the world and it seems like a real game changer.

“It’s very important to accelerate the transition to sustainable transport,” Musk said on stage during this weeks event. If you want to read more about the actual specs there's a really good Wired article to check out, otherwise just watch the keynote above and drool over is curves.

This is just cool.

4. Robotify Update.

So seeing as we published a Robotify company update last week I thought I'd do something similar this week! A lot of good stuff is happening over here right now. At the end of last week we took on our new Head of Tech, Shane Curran.

This week Shane started dev on our learning dashboard and our course page. The course page is due to go live on Monday. Evan finalised the chassis design and got it all set up with his 3D printer and I've been managing some stuff in regards to the business. Still no funding however we are working on it guys!

Don't forget if you want to get in touch please do so at our contact page and we will get back to you ASAP!

5. Kickstarter Of The Week.

This week we feature an awesome virtual reality headset which is currently 3 days into funding! The idea is to basically have VR for your front room at home. They are pitching it as "

The first portable VR headset with built-in audio. An all-in-one device to enjoy movies, games, photos & more" on their Kickstarter page. Looks great to me!

Have a great weekend. :)✊
